Bottled Misery
There was a time when I was young and had no place to go burnt every bridge I crossed, never going with the flow found myself all alone, a place of misery Drinking till blackness came, that’s when I felt I was free Had a hard time understanding who the hell I was My answer to every question why, was always “just because “ Freedom in a bottle, eating at my brain Living just to die, in a world I thought insane Waking from the darkness, with pain and deep, deep fear Consumed by dread, walking dead, wishing the end was near Heard a voice in my head reciting words of grace Come follow me there’s a better way, to live in this here place Looked around for my crutch, nowhere to be found Tremors shook me to the bone, and threw me to the ground Felt the end was here at last, knocking on my door That was fine with me, I couldn’t take no more In total desperation I cried out to The Lord If you’re out there and real Jesus, kill me with your sword That was the beginning, for I was born again Into a place of hope and love, yes that’s when life began He lifted me to my feet, and His love then sheltered me My guilt and fear were gone, and I was finally free The bottom of a bottle, only adds to misery Jesus is the only place, to find true liberty
