Mom Saved These
My pink and white knit booties, And first set of white soft shoes, Cut outs on the sides with pink bunnies,  too? My grandfather's first birthday card  to me, beautiful as brand new. Written with his shaky hands,  Oh, he was such a sweet and kindly  man. Grandpa, how I miss you! My wooden jewelry box with the toe dancer inside, That twirled, when I put my little girl jewelry to rest. My spelling bee medal, how I cried over that. I wanted gold, but only got the bronze? My brunette pigtails on my pillow, Soaked in tears over that. Moms want to remember how tiny and sweet we once were. I, too, dream of my daughter and her little buggy and dolls. The smell of her hair, her sweet arms around my neck as she kissed me goodnight. These are things we Mothers simply  cannot forget. The candle and brightness of them always in our melancholy hearts lives. Then, they bring over our grandchildren! And the candle grows brighter than ever. There's ever so much more to give!
