Medusa Shares At the Fair
Medusa had been a ravishingly beautiful maiden but her mirror was broken Too many snakes in her head as she looked into the reflection of her prism Condensed she gazed at the prison of shards cracks and copper stained dust The looking glass showed no mercy but she had turned to stone long before Cropped wings and snakes past seduction she was an artisan mason of demise One last gaze and she prepared to exit the circus of malfeasant corruption Once a string master of determined volition she had become a mere puppet An Orgon binder trussing together unpleasant truths ground into slavery of Her own vanishing mind of sorrow where there had been marble and shine A rough rebellious diamond maybe but cut out from passion and lust for life Now she hung from a frozen trapeze in ragged chemise arrested in full fright Mocked by dancing bears in frivolous costumes she felt naked in full view Of the drunken crowd which she despised in her fight for meaningful posture Applause for the mask and smeared lip stick that covered fear and her tears The stupid clown in her soul stumbled and yet failed to bite sand and the dust Itchy skin covered her scabs and festering wounds as fleas gathered their feast A lonely organ grinder she was but the unabashed monkey directed the show Doped to their eyeballs tigers and lions jumped through hoops of contempt Elephants trumped through a colossal arena of dung heaps and outcast dreams Wild horses could not drag her away from the un un-merry roundabout festival Of morbid stagnation and she wished for the musty curtain and final farewell Surely the circus director would not care would easily find a replacement if She sought the many triumphant variants of being eaten alive by her serpents Poisonous fangs licked dribbling venomous mouths of devoured salvation As she climaxed in saliva and anticipation awaiting relief of the guillotine In the disillusioned disguise of a woman to be sawed into more than two parts Soon she was to be a black widow no more scorpion’s prey but beheaded The upcoming show was entirely hers in a hopeless triad of Self Future and World A grimacing ape on her shoulders held the script of advertisement for delusion The ink blood not yet dry when cold circumcision sealed her inglorious fate She looked at the tattoo on her wrinkled shoulder depicting Methuselah’s beard ‘When life gives you hair let it down let it go but don’t cut loose what you have’ The wandering circus has vanished times have realigned and monsters are gone Medusa survived and the ogress has tempted the Orgon on the main stage of life 17th March 2019 Witten for the contest 'Bring on the Dancing Bears' Sponsored by John Lawless
