my little bookworm -
home again, jiggety-jog oh, how kindly my castle welcomes me! the pungent loves of earlier meals and my dear one's perfume Je Reviens and Acqua Di Gioia like manna for the sensual senses a weary man dripping from a weary day, but no more I leave my mundane muddle on the welcome mat for I know what awaits what's this - an unmade bed? sheets amiss in a tangle and a comforter looking like Fuji in snow there is a form beneath, and a tiny light there, dancing huh? why, ten little painted toes peeking patiently proving for a tickle or two I discard my work-a-days quickly hearing a sexy giggle coming from the white cotton hills why, dear Fuji is moving - what can this be?? I ever-so-slowly creep my two hands, like spiders up under the sprawling cotton hills toward Fuji and the warm, fleshy prize underneath whatever I reach first is doomed to a tickle-fest and a kiss when my assault is complete and the laughter fades I peel back the hills and find my sweet quarry huddled close beneath with a copy of "Pebble In the Sky" and a book light "ah, Asimov tonight," I declare, "but what about ... me?" my best forlorn pout and puppy dog eyes follow, but she sees straight through "YOU, little soldier, are late to the party, and I am now involved!", says she oh, no, no, no ... I don't give up that quickly - I go straight for the nape, and begin my nibble attack she tries to hold me off, but I'm a relentless soldier, and Asimov, just words "ouch!" I yell as I feel the hardcover version kiss my nose this is serious ... what next?? I try the shoulders, divine, but same result then I tunnel under to her knees ... wham! Asimov slams my tush! I pop back up at the base of Fuji ... "how can I convince you, My Queen? I need fleshly sustenance!" another stab at the pout, and a pretty please look on top ... "read to me, knave!" she cries "perhaps then I may find a spit of compassion for your tawdry desires!" I smile ... a BIG smile "PERHAPS, I said ... don't get your hopes up!" she continues "and more nape-nibbling will be required!" I feign a frown, and take the book from her hands ... slowly, adoringly "you are such a little book worm" I say, and start reading ... hmmm ... some movement below the sheets, then a wonderful feeling ... "just keep reading" she says, winking, and disappears below THIS will be a challenge, I think to myself ... the question is, am I up to it? book worm, indeed! ?? ~ 8th Place ~ in the "The Book Worm" Poetry Contest, Kai Michael Neumann, Judge & Sponsor.
