Exegenesis
The moon and the sun and the wind and the rain Are my pain As I see you Once more Nevermore Is the first fear that comes to my mind As I hide behind masks of complacency, vacancy Uncomfortably numb And afraid of what I might become Were I only to show what's begun in my soul Can you know what I feel Pressing down like a stone-laden crown on my head As my bread turns to ash in my hands And I'm left only stones that I sowed in strange lands Can't you know that your absence will haunt me like the days that fade only to nights, know no dawn, know no sense? Ah, so that's what they meant Oh, they told me I'd cry I denied them again and again Oh, three times have I told them, with utmost regret That we never met We never met before In the doorway you speak of The hope of now week upon week Ah, my tears incomplete As I seek for the window that peers through the soul In the mirror that might maybe tell me just who I really am In you Truth be told, though it can't quite be called so with all of these gestures and glances These dead necromances What's past is past Not today Not tomorrow But week upon week Of my sorrow Can say What might last Were I only to say Silence
