Lamentations
What is it that is so alluring with you, world, Other than your show of beautiful sceneries, Which glow at times with the hues of the sun And which vibrate at other times, with the pulse of the moon You have nothing that is appealing to me! You carry pain, both emotional and physical You carry disease, you carry old age, Anxiety, stress, broken hopes, shattered dreams, Despair, loss of strength, tears, hurt hearts, And death, which can be painful for some While being a soothing release for others! I walk through your gardens, with my own burden Held high in a basket over my head! I walk, knowing not where I am headed, since your ways Require me to attempt to swim, the way I am, in murky swamps, While keeping my mind focused on those holy words of wisdom Which you have provided to me in my dreams and which act as my buoys! Pray, what was it that was so alluring with you world, That I chose to be a part of you, birthing and living in your essence, Knew I not that faced with you, I would only crumble? 2 March 2019
