Written; by Tom Wright 3/3/2014 Nothing like awaking to a fresh blanket of snow, When it’s toasty inside and no needed place to go; But many in life are much less fortunate than I, Some existing on the street, perhaps just getting by; While I might choose daily from my choices of meat, Others shiver in darkness wondering if they’ll eat. It fractures my heart that in reality so few care, Passing them on corners with a hurried glimpse or stare; Perhaps their predicament is of their own performance, But life is about chances to evolve into conformance. I frequently question how one arrives in this situation, As we observe this problem growing, without limitation. By making them dependant on government assistance, We’ve destroyed their self respect with token resistance. They deserve a hand up but we’ve offered a hand out, Filling hands with free things will not bring change about. Many in this country are losing their will to work, Seeing everything in life as an entitlement perk; But if it comes to one free the cost is borne by another, It’s called wealth distribution and instituted by big brother. Jesus’ words plainly spoken where all might see, “When ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren ye have done it unto me”. Matthew 25:40 KJV
