Freedom From Condemnation
She struggled frantically as she was yanked from the bed Hauled into the street straight to the temple, no match for her rabble size With bare foot struggling to find their footings Hammered fear, cold deafeningly in her heart in commotion Ha! She knew what is coming, she has sinned! As she had experience of another woman stoned by scornful mob She never imagine herself in the same fate, set not for adultery A terrible mistake to meet him alone, she knew Too late, no room for escape, capital punishment Price for adultery, accordance to Moses law; God’s justice She smells the fragrance, precinct; dragged like a rag doll It is the temple! That housed the bronze altar Where her father assured of Blessings as a growing child in Jeru Halt! Religious mobs stopped Unto the feet of who they called teacher; chief executioner Let the trial begin! Shivering uncontrollably, Bowed and covered her face with her hair in shame Sentenced to death by stoning Then, the encounter begin, first salvo from the accuser He said “Teacher; she was in the act”, the very act Moses said stone, what do you say? As she was anticipated Further humiliation, except a deafening silence Is the teacher deaf? Citing via corner of her eyes He stoop down and write on the ground Should we stone her? The accusers poised, ready to shoot Arise, teacher with a majestic voice, articulating word With perfect blend of authority et compassion “Stone her, if you are without sin”, he said As he stooped down again and continue to write Who is this teacher? She bewilder by his voice, I adulterer, sinful Condemned, bitten, not him from small village of Nazareth? The healer, lover of sinner, is he defending me? Who is this man? She frightened on her mind Thud, Thud, Thud; sound of her salivation Accusers stones fell impotent on the ground, mob dispersed Full of Love et compassion, as she lifted her eyes unto his face Where are your accusers and condemners? She had not mattered, all that mattered, warranted her death Accusers gone, rescuer speaking as if she mattered “No one Lord”, a grateful response from her Now LORD and not teacher as the Pharisees addressed He wasn’t an ordinary teacher but the Saviour, rescuer “Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more” Words she can never forget, as she recounts Law of Moses, God’s Justice Grace of Jesus, God’s righteousness A re-written commandment of law He was Judged, condemned, we were forgiven, accepted Aye! Neither will I condemn you, GO AND SIN NO MORE!
