A Rose of No Compare
I wish I could say that I knew her, I wish that there’d been the time. I wish I had listened more to her, I wish that I’d noticed the signs. We thought that we’d take things so slowly, We thought that we’d give each their space. We thought that we’d stop being lonely, We thought too many things any case. They say love is a leap that’s uncertain, They say to love is to risk no return. They say any lost love can leave hurting, They say a life without love cannot learn. She felt that she couldn’t be for me, She felt that her heart was still torn. She felt that she’d hurt and confuse me, She felt only feelings just warm. You told me your heart in small pieces, You told me that love wasn’t true, You told me you needed your reasons, You told me that it was all through. My life was then shattered and twisted, My life became darkness and grey. My life was completely conflicted, My life, no longer mine, anyway. The choices we make in our lifetime, The choices we think we don’t own. The choice of to love at the right time. The choice of to leave and be lone. Each day after us has been tender, Each day still throws up all our hurt. Each day we try to remember Each day our relationship worked. Yet both know the feelings were golden, Yet both know the times that were shared. Yet both know what each would have altered, Yet both didn’t feel that they cared. There’s one thing I wish for that’s given. There’s one thing I’d vow that is true. The one thing that’s brightened my living, The one thing that’s special, that’s you.
