Something Bigger Than Myself
A proud artist I wanted to paint lone life’s landscape, a river called desire meandered the way I yearned. In prime youth I thought I owned the whole canvas, in conceited strokes I smeared the serenity of vales. The free will created the flamboyant paints of ego, all the colors spilled from the porous pallet of mind. The painting didn’t turn out to be a masterpiece, for the hidden designer created destined motif of life. Toward the hued horizon of draping dawn I travelled to capture the beauty at the edge of the nascent sky. In arrogant strides I trampled the verdant meadow, turned wasteland where I walked on my broken shadow. On the twilight backdrop rinsed by the rays of the setting sun, where I give the final strokes of brush on the edge of canvas my landscape is illuminated by the divine glow eternal light, and I see me in the lengthening shadow bigger than myself.
