The Forgotten Valentines
In the dusty attic, filled with stale air. A bit of dismal daylight had filtered in. I was looking around, to see what was there. I saw an old discolored storage bin. It was in the corner, tucked away by itself. Wiping away the dust, I lifted the lid. Inside was a small box, under a little shelf. It was battered and worn, but I saw what it hid. The little box proudly displayed red paper hearts. That had been glued to it along with white lace. The sad hearts were wrinkled, torn and falling apart. In red crayon, the word Valentine was all over the place. Inside, wrapped lovingly in paper with a red bow. Was a small bundle of white envelopes and cards. I opened them, and the tears began to flow. Seeing forgotten family valentines was very hard. My childish print, backward letters and such. Spelling Mommy Daddy, Timmy, and Callie, my dog too. The emotion that I felt, was almost too much. Cards for me, from them, with the words, "we love you". I found a treasure, long forgotten, but priceless to me. In this place, full of love from my past. I needed to find this little box, it was meant to be. I will keep the love in my heart, forever it wil last.
