Babbit's Sabbath
Babbit’s Sabbath Sundays still come at least once a week and I look upon them as a special treat. A day set aside to give both praise and prayer opening to the Lord on high that I’m still down here. The struggles both losses and gains seem to be the present life’s relief remnants of youth that remain waiting on the final tally sheet. So after all the years of passing solace comes in the silent inner burn with faith returned and lasting reminiscent of the lessons learned. The knees don’t bend as easily but still I make the attempt bowing my head with wheezing asking God I be exempt. The words slip thru my mind blending hope and dreams deeply felt searching for the God I long to find as daily tasks express gratitude for the life I’m dealt. No work today, no laundry or gardening just peace, quiet and reflection as God grant me pardoning for the past wrong directions. So Lord, here I am on Sunday, Babbit’s Sabbath.
