Crater Lake Gods Country
God’s country, a volcano who turned herself into a lovely lake of the prettiest color. Azure? No. Periwinkle? Not really. Possibly a lovely blue topaz, yes, this is what we see. Her calm silence greets us, with an awed, reverent countenance, inviting meditation. The only sound is our snowshoes as we walk in disbelief toward the topaz ribbon. She has spooled herself around a miniature island, adorned with her evergreen subjects. Guarded by white helmeted mountains, who gladly do her bidding, especially in winter. Her lovely evergreens encourage her canvas to share her knowing gifts of life. We pay humble reverence to the Almighty’s painted scene in silence, taking it in slowly. Her majesty is so compelling, even the snow feels blue. We pay homage by not talking. I reach for my husband’s hand. He squeezes it, and I look into his all-knowing eyes. Crater Lake, a magical place, created by God Himself, but blessed by the angels. Spirit is in the mountains, and the evergreens. You can feel her without trying. We take photos, knowing they cannot possibly replicate or capture this feeling of awe and reverence. She is an indescribable place, a volcano whom God turned into a lovely lake. Blue topaz majesty, with rhinestone streaks and glitzy diamond-like glimpses of soul. Spirit no doubt takes our picture. Sending it to heaven ahead of us, so they will know us When we arrive. A magical place, Crater Lake. God’s country. Written Jan 7th, 2019 Contest: Sleeping Volcano Sponsor: Eve Roper
