Before Sunrise
*It took going to bed one night thinking ‘Maybe I am a worthless piece of ****' ...like my mother and supposed father thought’. Then waking up in the morning to a miracle. Thinking, ‘I know I am NOT, so what am I going to do about it?’ What I did, was write this poem. *I will be putting in a short series of motivational poems here at the site. Thank you for visiting! Before Sunrise I went to bed with solemn words whirling in my head That I am worthy of nothing, like the things they said Intellectually knowing, I am not meant to feel this way But, I FELT it, as tears consumed pillows, body weak, wanting sleep I prayed for no-more nightmares to consume me, they run deep I woke up in the morning and felt like I was in a bit of a daze I slowly entered the next day of my life, as if it is a maze Suddenly I thought, wait a minute everyone is worthy to breathe this air! To walk this earth, worthy of love in our hearts and it CAN be fair! We are all capable of love with the free will to choose good actions Not dictated by anyone else’s spoken word of “should”, in fractions We all have something to give to make this world a better place! I looked out my window at the end of night, before sunrise…. - With a beaming smile on my face - Heidi Sands 1/7/18
