Dreams of You
~DREAMS OF YOU~ ( come true?) I wished him good luck as he stood in the doorway A stranger, yet not His face and voice etched in my mind forever Like clouds of brightest blue forget-me-not, all abloom Will I see him again beyond this dream? At the end of the road, outside this room? Will his eyes remember mine, as we stood by the table to go, and that I asked how old he was as he walked away I'm not sure why I wanted to know Only that I didn't want to wake up or for him to go Struggling through a throng to stay by his side Calling to him as if from an ancient distance, against the tide His smile the answer "Are you leaving?" hung in the air Strange, my heart wasn’t pounding Nor heaving, with any sadness I just held out my arm when I reached him, and he wrote upon it with gladness Stark black ink against my white skin As if his presence was sinking in to stay I leaned against him, and the wool scarf thrown around his shoulders “Stay” A silent longing unexpressed A hope, being impressed, none the less Realized, when he said “ I can’t wait until I’m holding you” And I replied “ You already do”...
