End of a War
The comes a time to stop the fight, to lay down arms and sleep at night All the battles won all the battles lost, you’re left behind to count the cost As your pick you way through what is left, you note the things of which you’re bereft The cost is high and your worlds in ruin, you stumble on not sure what you’re doing Walking through the smoke that drifts around, avoiding deep craters in the ground Wondering how you ruined this once fine land, answers your heart does demand As you run through the events of late, you find the touch of an endless hate It clings to the earth, the grass, the trees, its darkening touch puts you on your knees To finding its source you bend your mind, the route of this thing you have to find Tracing the scars across the land, through smoking wrecks and bags of sand Across rivers of blood and lakes of black, I follow this taints acrid tack Buts as I follow, this trail does change, from pure hate to a different range The trail descends from heaven above, this destruction came from the deepest love. This knowledge breaks my defence with ease and the last of me scatters upon the breeze.
