God does not choose to show you what lies for you in store, He just says, “Trust in Me for everything.” He gave His Holy Spirit to guide you on your way, He gave His promises so plain and true, He gave you friends and family, a pastor bold and strong To help you know what God wants you to do. As you look back at milestones of sin and much regret, I’m sure some you would gladly now erase. But through those days of wandering, He kept you in His sight, And now has brought you to this special place. It’s birthed a need so special in lives of others who Have made some awful choices on the way. And God told me quite plainly He’d use this ministry To help a person who has gone astray. And so this special milestone of thirty you reach now Reminds me of another long ago Who at the age of thirty began to preach and teach And gave Himself because He loved us so. You know, His name was Jesus, and He spoke of someone Who made some awful choices in his life, He spent his father’s portion in wicked, passionate ways But one day when his days were filled with strife, He looked up in to heaven, confessed his sin to God, And went back home, afraid of Dad’s disdain; Instead, the father hugged him, put shoes upon his feet, And celebrated he was home again. You reached that special milestone not many years ago When you, too, tested God to see He’s real. And just like He had promised, without a way to doubt, His presence there again you then did feel. So now this special milestone of thirty that you reach May bring back memories of both good and bad, But, Brandon, I am praying that many milestones more Will be the best that you have ever had! --Dedicated to Brandon Fowler on his 30th birthday.
