The Reindeer That Nobody Knows
There's a Reindeer that nobody knows, and it is, quite frankly, a shame! He is loved by most other reindeer. Alva, is that reindeers name! I'll tell you the story of Alva, whose home is in the North Pole! This storys been kept under wraps for years, but it's time this story was told! Back when Santa was selecting his reindeer, Alva was one of the bunch! He felt that his chances were better than good. At least, that was his hunch! But, he never was really considered, and it's obvious what was to blame! The roadblock, the elves and Santa could see, was that, Alva, was this reindeers name! Alva had a few minor problems. He limped sometimes when he walked! It was hard to know what he was saying, cause he stuttered whenever he talked! One eye was black, the other eye blue. He had three teeth missing on top! He had a knack of making bad choices, a problem he just couldn't stop! Alva's intentions were always the best. To do the right thing was his aim. But, for whatever reason, it hardly ever worked out, and Alva was always the blame! Rudolph and Alva were neighbors. Really good friends, I suppose? But, Rudolphs eyes were both the same color, and he had a beautiful, shiney, red nose! Rudolph did what he could to put in a good word with his good friend, old Santa Claus! But, it didn't do Alva much good, he had one too many flaws! Despite Alva’s various problems, Santa Claus tried to be fair. He wanted to pick Alva, to be on his team, but, that option, just wasn't there! Alva may have been picked for the team in spite of his flaws, just the same! Except for the one, Santa couldn't ignore, and that flaw, of course, was his name! Alva actually wanted to change it, but his parents flatly refused! That is the name you were given, and that is the name you will use! Consequently, Alva’s still Alva, so this fact, I hereby submit. No matter where you put his name, It simply doesn't fit! Try, "on Dancer and Alva and Prancer"! Try, "on Comet and Alva and Cupid"! Try, "on Donner and Alva and Blitson"! They all just sound kinda stupid! Well, that's the story of Alva, who might have been famous and great! Except for the name that did Alva in, and sealed his unfortunate fate! Alva's just part of the herd now. Bideing his time day by day.. He gets really sad around Christmas, that feeling just won't go away! So, if around Christmas, an odd reindeer appears, with a very sad look on his mug! If he limps, stutters, and has two color eyes, that's ALVA, please give him a hug! Ralph Taylor 12/17/18
