The joys of yesteryear, now hard to find. Christmas, magical through the eyes of a child, The gift of innocence, of the meek and mild. As the years pass, the innocence does too. I see and feel things differently than I used to. It was up to me not to let precious memories go, but I wasn't mindful then, sadly, now I know. Holding on to joys of the heart, keeping them close at hand. Is a concept that in the past, I didn't understand. Now alone, through another holiday season, I look for something, trying to find a reason. To see the beauty and let my heart once again sing. But, there is only emptiness, no magic left to bring.
