Letter To My Beloved- Contest
In the last few moments before you would slip from my grasp, I would tell you how heartbreak will be too much to bear and my heart will never be whole again, how it will shatter because your love was the glue keeping my pieces together. I would tell you how my fingertips will still reach for your warm skin and when I would only feel the cold air on my palms I would only lose hope to find one like you again. I would tell you how I will miss the nights that I hear you breathing so softly, how calming your presence is. It has been the only thing to bring me peace. Maybe I’ll remind you of all the times that we will never forget. The days when we were young and youthful, Most importantly, I will remind you of how you will never be able to find someone who loves you more than I do. How no one will ever hold you as tight as I do. How it will never feel the same again. In that moment you will still leave, I know it. You won’t believe how much I love you until years later when you are married and have children, and your wife will hug you and it just doesn’t feel the same anymore. ~12-14-18~ ~Written for The Silent One’s “Last Letter to My Beloved” Poetry Contest
