Walking the Last Mile
WALKING THE LAST MILE In the vibrant life’s ever-changing dynamic landscape the paved pathway across the undulating topography meandered to the nebulous future in time taking shape, I was set to traverse following the footprints of destiny. Many surging streams in spate I had swam in stern storm buds of nascent hope held close to heart lest they drown, chasing butterflies in flushing verdant valleys in full bloom in the rainbow arched sky color winged dreams had flown. Floating on the rhythm of the rustling leaves in the forest sneaking streaks of the golden sun wrapped me in ecstasy. In tiresome nights I found a calm niche in your arms to rest, on my meadow at dawn sparkle of love on dew I could see. The senile sun sinking at edge of twilight leaves me alone, at the travelled path of promise I looked back for a while. Before the darkness descends I need to reach the horizon, I don’t count the remaining footsteps walking the last mile.
