Once More Unto the Breach
Trauma Drama Pain.... another page in a chapter In a book that rewrites itself I should learn to leave that book upon the shelf Or maybe I should burn it And keep myself warm next to the fire She said she loved me— This love that took me higher I said it and I meant it I put my heart upon a wire Lifted up by that feeling Yet she proved to be a liar So in turn I should put my heart upon that pyre Because it burns either way Here one day But saying she’s leaving on the next I guess this is something I should come to expect Love is always behind me Like the summer sun burning upon my neck I guess all I ever know Are the words to sad songs Lift me up Drop me down There’s never any right within these wrongs But yet she’s so twisted up In a place that she isn’t familiar with That the feelings boiling inside her Make it hard for her to live And I can see clearly that it’s hard For her to give But I understand what she can’t see So it’s hard for me to forgive I did it to myself I guess I should of known better all along Love will always be my battlefield And pain my marching song
