Confession
May the word of God find a place in my heart And hold together all of it’s fallen parts From the dark plains may it raise me above Far into the sky to fly like a fleeing dove May it give me the wings to fly to the freedom land Far away from the touch of the devil’s hand And so in my escape may it show me the path And so of my arrive may it give me the oath For the devil I’ve slaved enough to know I was wrong His feet I have washed, his songs I've sung Like the mist rising from the valleys below My spirit is wandering, my legs are slow And yet my pain is too much to bear In the gashing fangs of the devil’s snare I’ve heard you more than once calling out my name But to hear or not to hear was all the same I was but a slave and it didn’t bother me Until to this day that I long to be free And now on me may you turn your eyes And consider my confession a free of lies Am sorry my Lord I have come torn into pieces Torn by the world and it’s sinful services Dirty as I look in the shell of shame Naked as I’ve come register my name Re-teach me your ways I once defied Get me to the path from which I defected My going was entirely of my free will My return Of course is the same still In the service of the devil I have measured my worth And regretted of your love I let to pass But from now, never shall it be the same story From you to run away in search of false glory.
