Our Christmas Tree
'Twas the night before Christmas, and Mom said to Dad- now, this year get me a nice tree; with no big branch gaps and tall, oh yes that was her demand, so Dad took me by the hand and said, lets go see. I am sure we can cut a good one down, I know the perfect place, a farm just outside of town; and we did find one with a glorious winter white gown. But, when we got home it would not go in the door, so, Dad cut some branches and then more and more; finally, we got it inside and then I heard Dad roar. Too tall, so he cut off the top so it could in the corner stand, Grandma just rocked and smiled while sipping tea; our Christmas tree had big gaps and no crown, I had to cover my ears when Mom saw it and swore. Oh, our tree was so ugly and far, far from grand, filling in the gaps with tinsel and lights, that was the key; but, by the morning in thistles our gifts did drown, the fact, our tree was hideous- that fact we tried to ignore. __________________________ November 21, 2018 Poetry/Rhyme/Our Christmas Tree Copyright Protected, ID 18-1086-834-01 All Rights Reserved.
