Inter Thru the Exit Door
I was born the day after the Black Plague of hate revived Hope vanished on the night cruelty came to life I was weaned on the hard teats of vexation, canned childhood joy had a short shelf space of exhilaration My poet soul daddy said: when you inter thru the exit door, anything you get hereafter is gonna be much less than before Mama agreed with the bitter words pa spat, angry resignation made her sunset sit more labor worn weary She said some poor souls, when they come into this world, their tragic fate enters thru the exit door All their life spent traveling on a sea of tears Their heavy laden hopes never reach shore She twin echoed that the entrance was dimly lit And infirm minds followed carnivore voices blindly into the abyss They said that dull glow white noise is the deadly Black Plague Strident ultraviolent tones seeing infra-red thru a shotgun 20/20 gauge I died the day before the Black Plague of hate was eradicated Eternal expectations returned on the morning dirt heartlessness was shovel eliminated By faith, I had told my dear daughter to look forward to that tear-healed, love-filled blessed day Then as our eyes opened together, and were birthed a perfect view of the new world ... we remembered what God said: When you inter thru my Shepherd’s exit door, anything you vow get thereafter is gonna be much more than promised before
