The Kave-In Part 2
I gathered up my will to wander towards the light and began to ponder, The things I'd do once I found that cave's elusive exit door, The light upon my brow would start healing my sickly skin and well being, Tears upon my cheeks appearing when those two I love are at last restored. A joyous chorus of familiar voices, my friends and family all restored. Especially those I most adore. At this point I had the feeling that the light should soon be nearing, So I peered up towards the ceiling and slowly I began to roar, I stood there madly screaming, crying, laughing, begging, pleading, Dying, hoping, fearing, lying and pounding fists into rock's decor. Blood and bone and flesh and fragments of my hands now the cave's decor. Away the light had drifted furthermore. Recklessly I started running towards that little light so cunning, Out of breath, my heartbeat thumping, I shook my fists and loudly swore, "Damn you, evasive wicked lantern, I am not ignorant to your pattern, Do you reside here in this cavern to mislead he who its dark paths explore? Representing a false beacon to mock the void which I explore?" The light wavered again once more. So still I sit among my shadows, no escape from self-made gallows Waiting, wondering, weeping, watching the light fade more and more, Always there, false hope churning, light that keeps my heart yearning, Vainly for the things I'm learning that I never can restore. The world I knew beyond the mountain one that I can never restore. Seeking light is now my only chore. This is how I see it ending, into darkness my soul descending, Into a shallow sunken puddle living on the cold cave floor, By the world, long forgotten, the man inside misbegotten, Only the rambling writings rotten just inside the cave's door, A mere glimmer of what he was before, never having reached the door. Alone in darkness, forevermore.
