Today I Sat In Your Seat
TODAY I SAT IN YOUR SEAT . . . Today I sat in your seat in my heart I just wanted to feel your beat Watching into all the spaces of people - still waiting for us to greet Sat here I thought I saw you in all the faces of those who passed by My heart reaches out; and I so wonder if they know how inside I cry I could spend the day - I could hope beyond reason - will you return Always left so lonely - my want is nothing more than to you a yearn But it took time watching those passing faces you were in fact there In all the faces of the passing showering upon me with a kindly stare That look of recognition was more to me now than just a coincidence And our love was more than could be taken away - you are invincible I even got to see the parts of your life which I was never there to see Nice to know you always gave consideration - to a lonely mum like me Sat upon my seat watching and waiting for a son who never returned Who gave me on passing - a look of a young man who was concerned I never want to see the concern in the face of a young man ever again Wondering what’s grieving such a mother who tears she tries to feign So today I sat in your seat and looked forward to the young men I see And hope now with my smile - I let you know how happy you made me Indiana Shaw . . .
