Wishing Beneath a Red Umbrella
The fragrance of rain whiffs as our toes reel along a sidewalk bathing tresses herein; while nostalgic glances mark pain’s ordeal till openly bare, we talk eyes to skin. How words ripple around waking life’s fears of what new seasons could no longer hold— as mist of goodbye drowns with frozen tears when nightfall’s ink silences thoughts, quite cold. Beneath a red umbrella, we embrace this warm closure, your far trails unto sea allowing love’s resplendence its fine grace-- for blest is co-owned ardour through vow’s decree. If miles distant could bring us to this same spot where we could glaze the fields… never apart; let pour of fate twine these arms like a knot my umbrella a rune wrapping one heart! ---- For Eve Roper's The Red Umbrella Contest 11/9/2018
