Grandma Told Me
grandma told me love has no rules, and i thought of the boy who laid them out for me like blueprints to a disaster. grandma told me not to ever wear my heart on my sleeve, because fabric is easier to repair than heartbreak. she told me that sometimes, no matter how hard i try, i will fall for those who least deserve it and yet you - you deserve more than what i can give. you are like the shadows of the moon in the early morning, delicate and quick to disappear. petal soft skin and even softer eyes, like blinking in the starlight. i am a ticking time bomb that's a little too nervous, a little too unsure, a little too much of what i shouldn't be, and you have become everything i have ever wanted. if i had the power, i’d reach up, up, up, single handedly grab every star above you and hand it to you, gift wrapped with precision. has anyone ever told you you’re worthy of the universe? grandma told me
