The Parable of the Talents
A noble man, full of grace, Left home to seek his kingdom. Giving three servants treasure, According to their wisdom. On his return, two men ran, Joy vivid on their faces. Here’s double of what you gave, Indeed, we’ve reaped your graces. When you left, we set to work, At first, we had grave concern. But loves strength ensured pursuit Regardless of your return Come share my grace, the king said, For our hearts beat, as one song. You kept my word, sowed my seed, By my side, you both belong. Where is servant number three? He must surely know I’m home. But all that day, then the next, Master waited on his throne. The man was found, in the town, And brought before his master. Here’s the talent you bestowed, Sorry I wasn’t faster. The master saw through his mask, A heart as black as charcoal. Your laze and lust speaks’ deceit, No place I have, for your soul. But master, how harsh, how vain, Punished for being afraid. I returned the gift as told, I most certainly obeyed. Master replied in silence, By showing him to the door. My kingdom needs due respect, No such traitors anymore. Your actions have exposed you, As self-obsessed and cruel. To idle whilst men suffer, You lay waste to sovereign tools. Don’t heed my call, to prepare, Be active in all you do. Share my joy, spread my mercy, My own Spirit lives in you. 17/10/18
