Forgotten Are Forgotten
Forgotten are forgotten Forgotten, left on the side of the road, tossed out with the trash, litter in someone else’s world, cold soup in a fractured bowl spilled in the void of those who have left without a thought Though this is not what I remember, there was a day when people cared, sought out reminders, flourished as members, accepted the new and the old Not anymore, not now as hate breathes in acrid gusts and fading smiles dissipate down desolate alleyways Life become meaningless when words lose their edge and actions rely on threats wielded by costumed bystanders seeking only that paycheck Digging deep for some belief, promising bilateral lies, facing non-judgement for merely a walk in the light shining down from clouds of fame, raining on the shame Twisted mementos for safekeeping until the next band screams before the audience even arrives They were nothing, they are nothing and so it goes, as easy as it came the end runs from the beginning and the forgotten are forgotten it’s just not the same anymore
