Running Out of the Essential
Once upon a time most of us had the potential, With our tanks full of petrol, To be the Hero quintessential, Should the need become essential. Now alas there are few with potential, Who have a tank to hold their petrol, Most now too ineffectual, For anything that essential. When did we start to lose our potential? Was it when we let drugs take over our soul? Or when songs of hope no longer were there to console? Perhaps it was when we laughed at need for the Hero quintessential. Can we ever get back our potential? Fill our tanks with something other than petrol, Reinvent the Hero quintessential, For when the need becomes essential. If we don't the loss will be indescribable, Our tanks no longer usable, Our heroes no longer Quintessential, As everything becomes non-essential.
