Crossing the White Line
Ebony drunk and burnt rubber sienna swerving, I crossed the white line ... And tragically, with emotional intensity, word vehicular hit a vanilla-colored human being My coal senses were belly dulled by the intoxicating, sepia pleasure liberating pang Released from the crowded cell ghetto chains; brief moments of obsidian ostrich flight was a tad sight, rice pad pedestrian Blurred tunnel vision ... hypnotized by the freedom movement of the mesmerizing, Soweto asphalt Brother on a high-speed pace, Indy race car accelerator celebration Didn’t notice til it was too late — I crossed the white line, and saw naked fear in the pretty doe eyes of a bipedal, snow-tail dear Miracle of miracles ... Jah put a sobering brake on my nitro-boost, Zulu soul The near-fatal demise of a fragile, porcelain feminine figurine caused my chocolate lungs to scream Still in the land of the living, she cerulean-eye cried out for help in tear-translated Afrikaner Lowland Samaritan I shook my coconut shell pride out of potted self-pity, and rushed to provide compassionate giving I signature crossed my Zimbabwe name on a zebra accident report — the white sheet, black dotted line And willing confessed to my careless, ethnic insensitive crime
