I Wander the Desert Alone
Shoooooooooooooo I jump a little, thinking scorpion. The only thing on the desert is me and sand. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh The wind? I still myself, listening, completely on my guard now. Nothing appears. I feel the intense loneliness of the barren desert once again. This oasis was wildly beautiful days ago, when I arrived, dumped unceremoniously By my capturers with a canteen of water which has been gone for several hours now. I reveled in the pink and orange streaked twilit nights the first day Or two. Gentle whispers of the sand people spoke to my heart, soothing me, Hypnotizing me to sleep. I believe I have been here for three nights, no watch Or anything, and I am hallucinating now, probably a sign that the thirst is getting to me. I am still amazed by the glittery stars that sneak out as stealthily as a cat’s eyes under cloak Of darkness. I lie down in the sand and await my fate, listening to the shhhhhhhs and the Shoooooos, wondering what they are, but too tired to fully care anymore. Survival which Seemed paramount when I first arrived is an interest I no longer care to entertain. A sip of water is what I dream about as I close my eyes, wondering if I am as alone as I feel.
