Hanukkah
Hanukkah By Gavri Hanita Hazaka Abir Selek 2nd Charles Gerald Patrick Chard 2nd The Hanukkah candles remind us of the story, How one day’s Holy oil stretched into seven days of Glory? Its story is recorded in the book of Josephus, This miracle of GOD left to us, Although the slave candle makes it eight, There are seven days celebrated of Hanukkah’s date, For it took seven days to prepare the Holy oil for the sacred lamp, This shows GOD’S approval, HIS Royal stamp, These days are remembered by the lighting of each day’s candles, Some remember in song, while others by the playing of Handles, The Spirit of Hanukkah still lives on, For this Tradition remains with a love that is strong, Commercialism has not touched this Tradition, Where family love remain a sacred mission, It has become one of our most sacred time of the year, Where family and friends may once again draw near, The singing of the song - Maoz Tsur, To the worship of GOD with victory and cheer, In the past the King of Syria tried to take true Godly worship away, But Mattathias and other fought bravely to maintain GOD”S ways, For they prevailed and drove back the enemy, GOD has set, once again HIS people free, Remembrance makes our hearts grow fonder, As on these things of Hanukkah, we do ponder.
