Tomorrow May Be Too Late
Priorities. They change so fast when life changes. What was imperative yesterday is no longer important in the least today. An illness. An injury. An automobile wreck. A death. Rapidly changes your perspective on what is important. How often I hear someone say ‘If I had known, I would have spent more time with her.’ If I had guessed I would have gone to lunch the day he begged me to. If I had….. Nothing brings regrets faster than the look backs, the never was, the cannot be’s. There is no re-wind button. If someone needs you, and asks for you it is an honor. It may be their last request. I received a lovely note from a woman from church once whom I barely knew. She told me that something I said in Sunday School would stick with her forever. The next Sunday at church I discovered she had been killed in front of her three children In an automobile wreck on Wednesday. It was too late to pick up the phone and tell her how much her note had meant to me. The one thing we cannot retrieve is time. This lesson seared into my soul for the rest of my life. I may seem crazy to some, but I have to do it NOW. I pick up the phone immediately, or write a note, or email. For I have learned, tomorrow may be too late.
