The rippled movement left over from the days busy activities. I look across the lake to see a beautiful deer standing in the mist, awaiting her cautiously approaching fawn. I walk to the dock, step out onto its gently swaying surface. Sitting down, cross leg, deciding to take in the quiet beauty for a while. The night sounds becoming clearer and more harmonious are a perfect accompaniment for this picture perfect scene. I hear a new song, the beautiful, eerie, mournful cry of a loon across the lake. A gentle breeze gives movement to the grasses around the water, and they sway to and fro. Misty moonlight filters through the trees, giving the lake a soft glow. I sit here enthralled by these simple pleasures given by nature. The night is alive with sounds, the beauty, of its own making, of its own magic. I am grateful for the peace that I feel sitting on the dock and the moments of pleasure. Knowing that great beauty like this can lift your heart, as nothing else can.
