I'm a prisoner stuck behind bars of ideas, not steel, Hiding the way that I truly feel. There are so many words, thoughts, opinions and ideas that I wish to unleash, To show people the real me Hidden behind a wall that I've spent my life building, With duct tape over my mouth to keep me from revealing How much I can't stand ignorance, Because it really isn't bliss, And apathy to learn the answers, Because if ignorance is bliss then why disturb And then they complain about the fact that they don't know. I want to smack them for their ignorance, and so They are the ones who don't try to find out What the information is all about, But these thoughts never escape my mind. I stay silent, Because of habit through time. I'm a prisoner stuck behind bars of ideas, not steel, Hiding the way that I truly feel. Like the fact that I think too much and my opinions of freedom, But I never have the voice to express my ideas. I'm a prisoner held captive by my own mind, Forced through time To bite my tongue and be quiet. Growing more impatient every second that I'm silent. I'm a prisoner stuck behind bars of ideas, not steel, Hiding the way that I truly feel.
