Why do I sit here ‘til it’s late Footsteps in the dark, I just sit and wait. Why can I not numb the pain Broken in the heart, loving you in vain. Pretence and more denial I smell her perfume on your shirt. Heart must harden for survival Protect myself from constant hurt. Why continue with this life Sun no longer shines, I can't be your wife. Why not stop and let me go Sorrow lingers close, I am not your beau. Waiting for your comfort and caresses I crave what now has gone.
