Married Five Times
I have a good friend who has been married five times. In the beginning, she is so “in love”, sick to be around. They cannot keep their hands off each other, like fifteen-year olds. It was rather cute in her twenties. In her thirties husband one became horrible, mean, disgusting. What had been cute had turned into something evil and unkind. She sought the solace of her girlfriends, and we were there for her Until she dumped us for another man. Husband number two. They were insane about each other, picture the hand thing again. The “young love thing” was not as cute, but we were excited for her. She had found someone nice, Who liked her in spades, and got along well with her children. They had two more together. Then she decided he was boring, and got rid of him. Making the children sad. But remember folks, it is not about the children, it is all about her. Husband number four was loud, obnoxious, and unwelcome at parties. We thought she would catch on, but by the time she did they had been married a few years. She dumped him, divorced him, and remarried husband number 3 to loud cheering of their children. It did not last. Apparently she and Nick could be friends, if they did not live together. And of course Husband Number 5 came along swiftly. That is how they all come along, swiftly. Being “in love” is what she is all about. The day to day stuff is boring. Right? They are divorced now, and she is in her sixties. For the first time in her life, she realizes it is okay to be single. She is dating Nick, of course, and all was well yesterday.
