A Summer Reverie
As I close my eyes in a reverie a beautiful woman suddenly appears; she offers her hand as she comes to me, and urges me to forget my fears. Her red cotton dress flutters in the breeze as it drapes her body, I can see her silhouette; her pleasant demeanor puts my mind at ease; such a beautiful woman I won’t soon forget. With a wink and a smile and a yellow rose she nods her head inviting me to pursue; down a dark path which she only knows for reasons leaving my mind to construe. The path was narrow having many turns, and lined with thick foliage along the way; steps taken with care as one quickly learns, and neither of us had too much to say. At the end of the path a sight you couldn’t miss; a blanket on the ground and a bottle of red. The moments that followed were full of bliss; leaving thoughts of romance dancing in my head. But suddenly without warning she walks away; leaving me to wonder if it was all a guise. She left behind her yellow rose to stay, and my reverie ends as I open my eyes. June 17, 2018
