Handyman Me
Finding myself alone after so many years. I learned that I was somewhere that I didn't want to be. I needed to step up and conquer my fears. If I didn't, I would never be free. At first, I didn't do much but sit and cry. Feeling such grief day after day. I felt so removed from it all, didn't even try. Knowing that I would never be okay. Finally, I realized that I had to get something to do, something, anything, life wouldn't take care of itself. I wasn't sure how, but I needed to begin anew. So I put my insecurities up, on a shelf. Starting out small, not wanting to get in over my head. I decided to make some home repairs. Not even knowing what I could do, I went big instead. I was fixing things all over the house, including 3 flights of stairs. I started working into the night, a difficult time for me. I would get totally absorbed in my task, time flew. Before I knew it the sun was coming up and I looked around to see. That I had completed the task at hand, and it looked pretty good too. Now a few years later, I am quite good at what I do. I take pride in the things that I have done Doing it has helped me to make it through So well that I feel that I have won. A job to be done, I needed to fix something up high. I brought in the 8 foot ladder, fearless, I can do. I hadn't realized the skylight was actually in the sky. I persevered, and completed my task, as I had wanted to. I have my own toolbox, holding all of my favorite tools. And I proudly wear my red Ace Hardware tool belt. I like to think my dad knows that he didn't raise a fool And that he would smile because of the pride that he felt.
