The Journey
The sleet slaps my face and freezes my hands, As I struggle through these barren lands, My soul is cold and I begin to shake, I don’t know how much more I can take. The cold steals my breath as I struggle up this hill, I cannot stop this journey until, My hands hold your warm loving face, And your sweet lips I taste. Wolves at my heels and wind in my face, How long can I keep up this pace? The thought of you keeps me alive, And promises me strength until I arrive. Longing for your door on this cold frightful night, And to see your face in the candlelight, Can I rest for a moment on this snow? No, for there are miles and miles still to go. Long for me on this bitter cold night, And look for me in the dark, dark light, Pray that I don’t freeze to death out here alone, And God allows me to return home.
