Where the Shade Is Pleasant
...under oak, poplar and terebinth, where the shade is pleasant. Hosea 4:13b (NIV) WHERE THE SHADE IS PLEASANT Let’s gather daughters and sons into the complacent shade, arrest our minds with shady thoughts. Meditate of mindful things, writhing and diamond rings — noses poked, like cattle folk under the pious tree. The light sans sun, moony-eyed whites in transfiguration, venerating mother nature. Mushrooms and mold in shady rooms, poisoning of youthful lusts, posturing of prostitutes. Look to the hills then, to mountaintops… Follow the stick of wood to its wick — a sacrificial burning. But prey tell me, will you be left with a stump when your demon burns to the ground? Elah and Alon hold hands looking to the figure on the cross. The perfect shade dissolves the dross. Nails, splintered wood, wormwood thorns disappear as the Savior ascends past wooden clouds. Look past the pretentious shade! Look past the mountains and hills! Look past the sun! Look there with branches held high! See the Son of God! Look to holy things! Bow at His holy feet! Be lifted up by holy hands, the One’s that hail, “Well done!” 5/31/2018 Matt 25:23 His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” *Alon and Elah - Oak and Terebinth trees
