A Memorable Meal
My Aunt Crystal was a great cook With her meals, we were truly blest Oh, but there was one of those meals Much more memorable than the rest! Just like all of her Sunday meals All that you'd want would be there Chicken fried to a golden brown The smell of apple pie in the air Beans, "taters", and at this affair A glass of apple cider in range At each place there were vitamins Considerate I thought, but strange Uncle Ben bowed his head to say grace Of course we would all do the same In anxious anticipation I'd peek at chicken callin' my name! After "Amen", Uncle Ben looked up Grabbed his juice and took a big drink Shook his head with a frown and said, "Ma, this cider has turned, I think!" Silence then fell like it was shot Aunt Crystal said, "Wait a minute!" Bringing back the bottle she said, "There's apple cider vinegar in it!" The roaring laughter did not tarnish Her culinary prowess one bit But for sure, I just have to say That's one meal I'll never forget!
