My Grandma Knew Me
My grandmother knew me. My identical twin sister and I would Stay with her for a week in the summer. My twin loved cooking, baking, cleaning. All the boring stuff I have always despised. So they would cook and bake and yarn stuff up. My grandmother would fix me a little lunch and Tell me, “Be home by supper time.” This gave Me a day to explore. I would walk all over Looking at rocks, and trees, and grasses. I would investigate ant hills, and follow Tiny bugs back to their nests. I would listen to the wind, as she Talked to me in her pretty lilting Way. Watching the grasses moving, Ever so slightly, hoping for a big Bouncy lion to come bounding Up, so we could dance and play Together. Sometimes I would practically Fall asleep in the grass, watching The bees zip from dandelion to Clover. One thing for sure, I Knew when I grew up I wanted to Live in the country and be a Grandma. I could think of nothing better. So here I am now, staring at My bees, watching them Flit from flower to flower. I am living in the country, And I am a grandma and I still despise cooking, baking, And cleaning. So I guess you can say Not only did my grandma Know me, but I pretty Much knew myself Too.
