Shapeshifting Tornado
A shocking nightmare- the tornado arrived, that early evening, Tuesday, May 15, 2018. We were three miles away from our home- yet, it took nearly two hours to find our way through the maze of so many blocked roads. Finally, we arrived via eerie darkness, where shapeshifting shadows of destruction stood beneath the storm's pale, shaded moonlight. Come morning, the celestial sky of gray with dim, clouded sunshine, shocked us with how drastically it did transform our property. Eight huge trees, like giant pythons in the throes of war, were entangled, each with a pinion of twisted, splintered limbs and branches, lissome and woven upon the verdant lawn everywhere, blocking the driveway and path. Most still remain in decaying repose for now, until they are sawed, dismembered, chipped, no longer part of the old estate firmament under which they stood, proud, tall, and lofty until now, for perhaps, one hundred years. Trying to sojourn to their favorite nooks again, the birds and squirrels, wing and scurry about, still now, frantically searching for their nests.
