Society: Class
They say that we are all equal But we are not We are all different people Tied up into society’s knot There is the upper class Those drowning in money Standing on the greener grass Living in a world that is sunny Then there are the middle-class ones Hoping to be successful Trying to find a job, everyone’s and anyone’s Life is hard and stressful The lower class is last Barely able to get through They are poor and the outcast Who want to live life anew I thought we were all the same So why is he a billionaire Winning this unfair, unjust game Show me a place of equality, show me where There is something we can do to help those in need But we don’t do we just say After all, we are made of greed There must be something we can do to change our cruel ways If there was a ten dollar bill lying on the street Who would take it first? The one with gourmet meals to eat Or the ones dying of thirst This ten dollar bill Could buy someone’s life Or it could buy starvation and kill Just like a knife The upper class would take it To buy a fancy drink They find what they’re doing fit Spending that money before they could even blink The middle class would take it And save it for later Life’s not the best but they won’t quit Hoping for something greater The lower class would take it Using it for the best Listening to their stomach and wit Or maybe getting themselves dressed They live outside In the freezing cold or scorching sun Holding onto their deepest pride Hoping to get some food, but they have none The middle class, the average They live in decent houses They could buy some cheap food or a beverage Or a few different colored blouses They could buy whatever they want The upper class, the rich and powerful Live however they want Of course, their lives are fun and colorful Aren’t we all the same Aren’t we all just people with different problems to overcome We are equal, they claim That means we’re all being stepped on, we’re all being scum The lies people feed us Are getting to our minds We could all argue and discuss The fact that’s making us blind Only those who are allies Or are kind-hearted enough to see Only those people are the ones who realize There’s no such thing as equality But then what is class? Why am I here and why is he there You may ask Don’t look, don’t glance, don’t stare We have to change the rules of society We must change the rules of class Have at least some type of equality The opportunity has not yet passed We are not equal.
