What Happens
I see her running, laughing, playing,..living I can see her happiness. The look on her face as dad chases her through the park. I can see the love and praise she gets from going down the slide by herself. The joy she gets when she opens presents on her birthdays. The excitement when she runs down to the tree on christmas morning. She doesn’t have a care in the world. Her biggest concern is how to get a cookie before dinner without mom noticing. But what happens when the running turns into sleeping. The laughing turns into crying. The playing turns into studying and the living turns into just existing. What happens when her happiness fades behind a fake smile or the running from dad turns into running from cops. What happens when her love and praise turns into shouts and screams of disappointment. Now what happens when her joy from her birthday has now turned into lighting that first cigaret. What happens when the excitement on christmas morning turns into meeting a guy at a bar. What if now she has every care in the world because her world fell apart long ago. And one of her biggest concerns is trying to get out of a strangers house at 4 in the morning. What happens when shes not that little girl anymore. Is she still the same or did she change to much for you to recognize her. What happens when she lives the life she wasn’t supposed to live. What happened to the little girl you knew; what happened?
