My Temple
MY TEMPLE God is my Father, he kept me alive He taught me to think, taught me how to survive He was with me through trauma, with me through death And he kept my light burning, so I could not forget He gave me this temple, despite it being maimed By medical madness, and so many games When I walked in darkness, he shown a light And when I hit the ground, he gave me reason to fight I crawled through the thorns, with papers in hand God made me a poet, gave me a new name Giggles, he called me, we are in this together Believe and keep going, through the dark stormy weather I wrote up a storm, when I felt most alone And doctors made me a prisoner, I couldn’t leave my home So, God kept on talking, although my body was maimed And I kept writing it out, no two poems were the same He gave me direction, gave me a voice I stood up much taller, and made one big choice I raged at the people who took my life away And I vowed through my writing, that God would make them pay Thirty-five years later, my home is my truth It’s where I grew the most, training my brain for new use I stand like a tower, and as I speak God’s name I know through me and my writing, there will be a change….. © Giggles the Poet March 28, 2018 2:40 p.m. Thank you Lord, I don't know where I'd be without you. Each struggle only makes me stronger
